Family Training

Today, the whole family began training for the St. Anthony's Triathlon. The kids and Mike are dong the Meek and Mighty on Saturday, and I am doing the Olympic distance on Sunday (April 23rd and 24th). Mike is also doing the relay in the Olympic distance (March McCune is swimming and Mark McFall is running).

Today, we all ran 1 mile (I was not planning on running today since I did my long run yesterday, but I figured 1 mile would be ok). I took the dog, and she had fun running! Everyone did an awesome job! Then, we went swimming this afternoon. I did a little less than a half mile while the kids did about 1/4 mile. It was a good start. I hadn't been in the pool since before Christmas, so I was happy to get back in the water. I am going to try to be more consistent. Also, I MUST start biking!

3 weeks from today is my first HALF MARATHON!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited!

Update

I got busy and got out of the habit of posting here, but I am pledging to do a better job again. So, my last post here was 9 miles. I have now done 12 miles twice! :)

After that 9 miles I posted on Jan 4, I was really, really, really, really sore. In fact, I was SO sore that it hurt to pick up my foot to press the pedals in the car. So, Tuesday, I went to our hill workout, but I just did a VERY little light jogging, and then I walked the hills to try to get some of the soreness out.

My log is attached above. I did a few treadmill runs in there, and the Feb 3rd run should have .64 more added to it but I screwed up the watch. The Feb 1st one was a run where we got lost. We started on the golf cart paths and got confused. We ended up running on a highway on the tiny shoulder. It was scary, and I was SO happy to be back at the hotel.

I am really enjoying the running, and the 12 miles today was awesome. Last week, we went back to 10 miles, and I ran it with Heather and Carmen. It was the first time I had company on a long run, and it was SO nice to have people to talk to during the run. Today, Carmen and I ran together the whole time, and I really enjoyed talking to her. Next week, we are doing 13!!!!!!!!!!1 I am sooooooo excited for this race! I simply cannot believe that I am doing these distances. I laugh when I think back to July when 60 seconds was hard. It is even funnier to think of May when 60 seconds at 4mph was KILLING me. I am so proud of myself.

I was down 67 lbs when I left for the week long sales meeting. This morning, I was up 2 lbs to have 65 lost. Hopefully that was just water or something and it will be gone tomorrow. I certainly ran a lot so it shouldn't be THAT bad. :)

NINE Miles DOWN!!!

WOO HOO! We are back from our ski vacation, and I went for my long run that I missed while I was gone. I would have done it Saturday, but I decided to wait until I was back to do it as it was COLD there. Well, shocker, it was 26 degrees last night in Florida. DOH. So, I ran at 10:45 instead of early in the morning when it was more like 40. Much better.

I did the 5 minutes run with 30 seconds water walk, and I averaged 11:59 min per mile. :) BARELY under 12. I am proud though as my heart rate average was 5 beats a minute less than when I did 8 miles. :) My legs are pretty tired, but I did it!

Track Practice

Tonight, we had track practice. We did a warm up of 1/4 mile and then some quick knees, butt kicks, speed increases. Then, we did 1 mile "faster than normal" with slow ends and fast in the straight way which I did in 10:10. Next, we did 1/2 mile "faster than normal" which I did in 4:50. Next, we did 1/4 mile which I think I did in about 2:20. The last 1/4 mile one I did in 2:25. We then did 1/2 mile cool down, stretched, and wished everyone a Merry Christmas. :)

We are doing our 8 mile run this week, and I am ready to get it behind me. I am a little nervous, a little excited. We are going to do it as a group which should be fun.

We had a team lunch at TFlats, and I ate WAYYYYYYY too much. I never needed to have dinner as I was full. I am hoping that running took care of that. :)

4 Miles

This morning, I set out for a 4 mile run. I didn't really have any goals time wise or heart rate or anything. Just 4 miles. So, the first 2 miles were great. It was cold, but it felt pretty good. The second two miles were a bit of a struggle as I had to go to the restroom. :) So, I finally gave in, went back to the house (of course it was 3.5 miles by then), and then I went back out for the remaining .5 so that I had done the 4. LOL...Oh the things we will do.

I did get up early to work first so that I could run a little later in the morning when it wasn't quite so cold.http://connect.garmin.com/activity/20822028

Rest Day

I had planned on running 4 miles today, but I decided that my legs might need a little more rest. They were feeling somewhat sore still. Seems odd, but I am trying to listen and not get hurt. So, I rested. We shopped for Christmas and such.

3.1 with Mike

Today, I ran 3.1 miles with Mike. It was meant to be an "easy" run as my legs were still pretty sore. Not sure why but they are lingering some. Especially my hamstrings. So, I just had a nice, light jog with some walking thrown in. It was good. It was nice to just enjoy being with Mike and not worrying about the speed or anything. Helped the legs too. We went to Busch Gardens after, so I got in lots of walking too.
